Taking dietary supplements is a decision individuals really should consider and what type of supplements they want to take whether it is food, vitamin, or a nutrient, and if the supplement will benefit their needs. Dietary Supplements are products intended for ingestion as supplements to one’s diet which they contain vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, plant substances, amino acids, enzymes, and extracts.
Therefore individuals will take supplements to make up whatever deficiency he or she may be lacking. Vitamin D is to help individuals to prevent calcium levels so individuals can have strong bones and teeth. For an example, I must take iron and vitamin D, even though I eat a balance diet, I still do not maintain the right levels of iron or calcium because of my health conditions. I will always suggest that individuals should always check with his or her physician before taking any type of supplement to prevent reactions or large amount of intakes that could cause health problems or death.
As I stated earlier taking supplements that are not needed have serious side effects, because individuals will think they are doing what is right but do not understand the seriousness until it is too late because too much of anything is bad. Some of the risks are weight management supplements which are on the rise because so many individuals who are overweight or obese what to be smaller in size. Weight loss supplements come in various forms such as fluids that can be mixed with a substance, pills, vitamins, or even herbs.

Therefore it can have an effect on medications the individual is required to take because of health reasons. Vitamin C which helps with vision and builds calcium too much consumption can cause an individual to have diarrhea. Individuals need to understand the severity about dietary supplements just because they say the supplement is natural, more than likely it is not, so individuals should always perform some research on the dietary supplement they consume to prevent side effects or even death. Some government regulations surrounding dietary supplement is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) they will regulate dietary supplement products that pertains to dietary pertaining to conventional foods and drugs products.

As society keeps growing and individuals do not consume a healthy diet to receive the right amount of nutrients it could cause an individual to develop diabetes, approximately 26 million Americans have type 2 diabetes, therefore some individuals will take supplements to treat. The supplement Chromium is a supplement metal and an essential trace mineral, is thought to naturally help reduce blood sugar levels.
This supplement can also be found in natural foods such as meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, spices, and whole-wheat and rye breads. In addition, to taking this supplement if not taken correctly and taken for a long time cans cause severe side effects that include kidney issues, which is a problem with individuals who already have diabetes.
